The new SUV is available as an all–wheel drive, rechargable hybrid, it will not have “traditional” versions – at least at home.

The Haval brand, owned by Great Wall, distributed the first branded images of its new hybrid crossover in June, then the model wore the in-house index B26. In July, the SUV was shown to local journalists, while simultaneously announcing the commercial name – Raptor (in Chinese it sounds like Menglong). This was followed by a public premiere and the start of accepting pre-orders. Well, now “live” sales have begun in China.

By the way, even before the presentation of the new product, the company was thinking about how to attribute the SUV to the “dog” family, which, we recall, includes DaGou crossovers of two generations (Big Dog; the first generation is presented in the Russian Federation – under the name Dargo) and KuGou (Cool Dog). That is, the model could get a name ending in Gou. But, as we can see, in the end they decided otherwise.

Anyway, Haval Raptor has a brutal look. Features – angular body, semicircles of headlights with integrated diode running lights, massive bumpers and hood, plus a large radiator grille with impressive “bars” and an equally impressive inscription with the brand name. In addition, the cross has a hinged luggage door with a spare tire located on it.

The length of the Raptor is 4680 mm (with a spare tire – 4800 mm), width – 1916 mm, height – 1822 mm. The wheelbase is the same 2738 mm as the Haval DaGou crossover. The passport ground clearance of a fresh SUV is 200 mm. The angle of entry is 24 degrees, exit is 30 degrees.

In the five–seat cabin there are separate screens of the instrument panel and multimedia system (12.3 inches and 14.6 inches, already in the base), a three-spoke steering wheel and a two-story central tunnel. The side air deflectors were made vertical, and there is an open shelf above the glove compartment.

Haval Raptor is offered exclusively in the form of an all-wheel drive rechargable hybrid with the Hi4 installation, familiar from other models of the Great Wall concern. The crossover has two modifications, both have a 1.5 petrol turbocharger (167 hp, 243 Nm), which is capable of operating in generator mode or connecting to the front wheels via a two-stage transmission. A 95-horsepower electric motor is installed on the front axle, and an electric motor with a capacity of 204 hp is installed on the rear. The difference is in the battery and the total return.

So, the simpler version has a lithium-iron-phosphate battery with a capacity of 19.09 kWh, the total power of such a Raptor is 378 hp and 750 Nm. The second option is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 27.54 kWh, and the system of this modification is configured for 383 hp (but the torque is the same). Only on electric traction, the basic Haval Raptor can travel 81 km on the WLTC cycle, a crossover with a more capacious battery – 115 km (Haval also indicated the range according to the outdated NEDC cycle – 102 and 145 km, respectively). From a place to a “hundred” Raptor with a 378-horsepower installation accelerates in 6 seconds, with a 383-horsepower – in 6.2 seconds. The maximum speed is 190 km/h (does not depend on the version).

The Raptor with the basic installation has two complete sets, the second hybrid has one. The arsenal of the cheapest version includes: LED optics, 18-inch wheels, “leather” upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, cruise control. The “rich” 378-horsepower cross and the very only 383-horsepower equipment list is generally identical, it includes: a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging for a smartphone, ventilation of the front seats, all-round cameras, adaptive “cruise”, auto-braking and lane-keeping systems. Among the options are 19–inch wheels, a “memory” of the driver’s seat settings, a projection display and a rear differential lock.

The price of the Haval Raptor varies from 165,800 to 183,800 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 2 268 000 – 2 515 000 rubles at the current exchange rate. Thus, the Raptor has become one of the most expensive models of the brand – more is asked only for the Haval H9 frame SUV (from 214,800 yuan or 2,939,000 rubles). The company has not yet announced plans to export a new crossover.
