Wimbledon 2026 introduces video review technology alongside second year of electronic line calling
For the first time in Wimbledon history, video review was introduced in 2026, allowing players to ask the chair umpire to re-watch judgement calls such as double-bounces, foul shots and net touches.
Video review is available on six show courts including Centre Court and No. 1 Court; line call decisions by Hawk-Eye Live remain final and cannot be challenged.
Hawk-Eye Live, using 18 cameras per court, entered its second year at Wimbledon after line judges were removed in 2025, ending a 147-year tradition.
Wimbledon is now the third Grand Slam to adopt video review, following the US Open (2023) and Australian Open; Roland-Garros retains human line judges.
Scoreboard visual indicators were also added in 2026 after fans complained they could not tell in/out calls without on-court judges.
